Liam Payne has tragically passed away following a fall from his hotel balcony in Argentina.
Alberto Crescenti, the head of Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services, confirmed the star’s death, stating he fell approximately 14 meters and sustained “very serious injuries incompatible with life.”
According to TMZ, the former One Direction singer fell from his hotel room balcony on the fourth floor of the CasaSur Palermo Hotel. The circumstances surrounding the fall—whether it was intentional or accidental—remain unclear.
Witnesses reported that the incident occurred just after 5 PM in Buenos Aires, and noted that Payne had been behaving erratically in the hotel lobby earlier that day, including smashing his laptop and requiring assistance to return to his room.
Payne gained prominence as a member of One Direction after being discovered on The X Factor in 2010, remaining with the band until their hiatus in 2015. He subsequently embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album, LP1, in 2019, along with his most recent single, “Teardrops.”
He is the father of a seven-year-old son, Bear, whom he shares with singer Cheryl Cole, and has been in a relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy since October 2022.
