Emergency services were called to the bottom of the South Eastern Freeway at 6.30pm last night, Wednesday 19 February, after a semi-trailer rolled onto its side and came to rest at the traffic light.
Police say the collision occurred after the truck had been waiting at the red light and then commenced turning right with a green light onto Portrush Road.
An off-duty nurse sprung into action according to Adelaide Now, pulling the driver from the wreckage.
“He was trying to get out of the cabin, so I ripped open the glass, ” Rhiannon Bou told Adelaide Now.
“He was in shock.”
The 23-year-old southern suburbs man did not sustain any serious injuries.
Damage was caused to traffic light infrastructure and caused traffic delays.
SAPOL’s Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Unit officers attended the scene to assist with the investigation.
The scene was clear and normal traffic flow resumed overnight.
