Mount Barker’s new purpose-built ambulance station is now open, with greater emergency resources for the rapidly growing region.

The $9.1 million facility, at the southeastern corner of Bald Hills and Springs roads, accommodates a team of 32 paramedics, including 18 recently recruited by the Government, to address the increasing demand for emergency care in Adelaide Hills communities.

The new facility replaces the ageing Mann Street station, which has served the community for over 30 years.

The new station ensures faster and more efficient emergency responses for the local area and has state-of-the-art facilities, including a large training space, a six-bay garage, a kitchen, rest areas, and secure parking for ambulance crews.

The official opening on Sunday 12 January, was well attended by community members, stakeholders, and politicians, including Health Minister Chris Piction, Emergency Services Minister and Kavel MP Dan Cregan and Member for Mayo Rebekha Sharkie.

The opening coincides with ongoing construction of the $320.8 million Mount Barker Hospital project which aims triple inpatient capacity from 34 to 102 beds and expand community health, allied health, and outpatient services.
