Man Shot, Killed In Craigburn Farm Incident

A 40-year-old man has been killed, after he allegedly threatened police with a knife just after midnight in Craigburn Farm.

Police and SAAS were called to Highfield Drive after reports of a mental health incident where the occupant of a home was allegedly harming himself with a knife.

The man threatened officers upon their arrival, prompting them to use tasers which were unsuccessfully deployed.

Police then used their firearms, with SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens at a press conference saying the officers ‘acted in accordance with their training, and had taken the actions necessary to protect themselves and the ambulance officers who were on the scene”.

The man died in hospital.

Police will be preparing a report for the Coroner.
