Police have arrested a man after a car fire in Meningie earlier this week.
About 9.00pm on Monday 10 February, police were called to Meningie, after reports a car was on fire on Bowman Street.
Fire crews were in attendance and quickly extinguished the fire.
Checks revealed the silver Holden sedan had been stolen from a Meningie address earlier that evening.
Police conducted further enquiries resulting in a 31-year-old man from Meningie being arrested and charged with unlawful possession and illegal use of a motor vehicle.
He was bailed and will appear in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on the 5 March.
Meningie CFS Call for More Volunteers
Following the fire, the Meningie CFS has put out a call for more volunteers.
“No doubt, the smoke was visible to everyone in town. A visible reminder that we need more volunteers to protect the town. If you’re interested in helping out, please message us,” the Meningie CFS wrote on Facebook yesterday.
While most Adelaide Hills teams are adequately resourced, many regional and rural South Australian brigades are struggling to attract enough recruits.
