Local Cricket Wrap – 6th January

The Great Southern Cricket Association was the first to get going in 2025 with a slate of one-day games, while two local stars had big impacts across the weekend for the SA Outbacks side. Catch up on all the action here:

SA OUTBACKS

Langhorne Creek’s Troy Blackwell has helped the SA Outbacks win their first game of the Toyota Australian Country Cricket Championships, taking 5/39 to skittle Victoria on Friday.

Following a well-made 23 from Noarlunga opener Cameron Bullard which helped SA to 8/214, Blackwell ripped through the Victorians to keep them to 147.

In the last two games of the tournament, Bullard has been impactful at the top of the order, making 34 twice in matches against WA and Tasmania.

Noarlunga have lost their first game of the season to kick off 2025, with Port Elliot sending a statement with a seven-wicket win on Saturday in the Great Southern Cricket Association. 

Port Elliot held down the high-powered Noarlunga batting lineup well, keeping the Shoes to 137 before chasing it down within 25 overs.

In highlights elsewhere, Goolwa moved to third with a thumping 10-wicket win over McLaren Districts, while Mount Compass won a low-scoring match by four wickets against Encounter Bay.
