The first week of finals in the Murraylands provided upsets galore, while the races for finals places only further intensified across the rest of our regions. Catch up on all the action here:

MURRAY TOWNS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

The underdogs reigned supreme in a dramatic first round of the Murray Towns Cricket Association finals on Saturday.

Mypolonga, who have lost once all season as they chase their three-peat, couldn’t chase down 167 in searing conditions to fall 18 runs short against Mannum, who have advanced to their fourth-straight grand final. 

In the elimination final, Monarto ended the Wanderers’ season, easily winning by 68 runs at the Showgrounds, led by five wickets from vice-captain Josh Mildwaters.

GREAT SOUTHERN CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

The race for the sixth and final spot in the Great Southern Cricket Association finals seems poised to come down to percentage, following Day One play in Round 12 action on Saturday.

Myponga-Sellicks sit in sixth with a game in hand, however are now staring down a heavy defeat against second-placed Goolwa, who sit at 0/103 overnight after bowling the Mudlarks out for 120.

McLaren Districts in seventh now have their destiny in their hands, after they bowled cellar-dwellers Victor Harbor for 153, with the Crushers to resume next week at 0/13.

HILLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

The Hills Cricket Association’s defending champions have continued their resurgence on Saturday, claiming an important 63-run win over Mylor as part of Round 16 play.

Scott Creek Ironbank jumped into third on percentage with their win, spearheaded by half-centuries to openers Adam Shearwood and Aaron Thompson, while moving Mylor to fifth and out of the finals picture for now.

With two rounds left, third and sixth are separated by just one game.

ALEXANDRA AND EASTERN HILLS CRICKET ASSOCIATION (full scorecards here)

The fourth finals spot in the Alexandra and Eastern Hills Cricket Association is still open, after fifth-placed Nairne upset Hahndorf to win by six wickets and Woodside lost to league leaders Lobethal.

While Woodside still only needs one win from their final two games to confirm their place, Saturday’s fixtures built the pressure, with Nairne’s Shane Kenney starring with a blistering 101 off just 47 balls to help the Razorbacks upset the Magpies.
