Police have had an unusual job to deal with in the early hours of this morning.
Officers helped pull a feed bucket off stuck on the head of a cow on the Old Princes Highway at Dawesley around 4.20am (Wednesday 19 March).
Sergeant Peter Williams told ARN’s Adam and Jennie the work of officers may have prevented an accident.
“We hear lots of reports on the freeway horrible situation to come across. In this case it was the middle of the night and no one was hurt, it was a good outcome,” he told ARN’s Adam and Jennie this morning.
Officers helped guide the cow back to its farm and away from the road after assisting with the removal of the bucket.
On a Facebook post for SAPOL, Sergeant Williams wrote a pun-filled story that has so far garnered more than 11,000 reactions in just a few hours, including more than 850 comments and jokes.
“At 4.20am, police were called to the Old Princess Highway in Dawsley [sic] after reports of a cow acting suspiciously. The cow was spotted mooooving along the road in disguise, with a bucket over its head to conceal its identity!
After a high steak’s pursuit, patrols managed to wrangle the bucket off the cow’s head. The cow was cautioned for wearing an article of disguise and safely returned to its paddock without further incident.
Looks like this cow was trying to milk the situation for all it was worth!“
Sergent Williams told Adam and Jennie it has been delightful to share the story.
“In a world where sometimes we’re writing bad stories and we’ve had some recent ones… if we get any opportunity where we can share some laughter and some humour to try and put smiles on people’s faces and start people’s days off on a good note…” Sergent Williams said.
