The class action lawsuit for those affected by the Cudlee Creek bushfires in 2019 has been delayed again.
The trial, which is expected to last approximately five weeks, was initially set to begin on November 11 but will now be delayed a further 12 months following the submission of highly technical evidence.
The $150m lawsuit was first launched in 2021 and claims SA Power Networks had inadequate fault protection settings on the day of the fires starting.
The blaze claimed one life and almost 100 homes in the Hills, after it started with a tree falling onto power lines and then a fence.
Maddens Lawyers Special Counsel Brendan Pendergast said the delay is frustrating but necessary.
“We understand the long delay in advancing this matter to trial is disappointing for the group members, however, this matter involves highly technical evidence,” Pendergast said.
