We are being encouraged to include a splash of orange in our outfits today.
Today is WOW Day, Wear Orange Wednesday, an annual day of appreciation for the thousands of dedicated State Emergency Service volunteers across the state and country.
Over the past year, the State’s 1,700 SES volunteers have undertaken more than 43,000 hours of training and have responded to over 6,800 requests for assistance.
Emergency Services Minister Dan Cregan visited the Mount Barker unit today as part of the celebrations, stating that their importance is second to none.
“Volunteers work tirelessly to support their communities year-round across the state, from the city to the remote outback,” Cregan said.
“Today and every day, thank you to our volunteers in orange who are ready to respond to a wide range of emergencies and help South Australians in need.”
SA SES Chief Officer Chris Beattie says the organisation is nothing without its tireless helpers.
“I’m incredibly thankful for all the hard work our dedicated volunteers do to ensure the community is prepared and protected before, during and after emergencies,” Mr Beattie said.
