Carols By Candelight at Elder Park

St John Ambulance SA are excited to announce that three of Australia’s top Australian talents Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Phil Burton and Rachael Beck are delighted to join the star-studded line-up for the 80th St John  Ambulance Carols by Candlelight on December 14.

This 80th Carols is definitely going to be a night to remember – we can’t wait to see the crowd swell to at least 15,000 in Elder Park this year to experience the magic of Christmas with us at Adelaide’s biggest Christmas concert.

When he was a member of Human Nature, Phil Burton was no stranger to collective experience. The group performed countless concerts and often frequented large Christmas events which Phil says were “particularly special”.

“Being chosen to sing at the 80th Adelaide Carols is a true honour, and I want to see and sing with as many people as possible there,” Burton said

Beloved songstress Rachael Beck is a highly skilled concert performer with a love of Christmas time. She says, “sharing music is a gift and there is something magic about how singing carols unites all generations. I’m counting down the days until I sing in Adelaide.”

Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Phil Burton and Rachael Beck join other leading artists already announced including Sa’s own Hugh Sheridan, Emma Memma, Dami Im and Mark & Eva Seymour in Adelaide this year.

St John Ambulance Carols by Candlelight is one of the most joyful and well attended events on South Australia’s festive calendar. It was first held in 1944, it attracted an estimated crowd of 50,000, almost 10 percent of South Australia’s population at the time. Carols has grown to become a national television broadcast on Channel 7, boasting high-profile artists while keeping the essence of the event that brings together family and friends to celebrate the spirit of Christmas and sing along to their favourite Christmas carols and songs.

SA families as well as social groups are encouraged to put 14 December in the diary as the time to dress in their best Christmas attire, pack a picnic rug, and come down to Elder Park to enjoy a free afternoon and evening of entertainment, including the City of Adelaide Pre-Show Concert from 5.00pm.

This year, St John Ambulance Carols by Candlelight will be broadcast nationally on Channel 7, via 7Two and 7Plus on Sunday, 15 December 2024, as well as on Christmas Day.

Gates open at 3.00pm with lots of fun activities and Santa on ground, followed by the entertaining City of Adelaide pre-show at 5pm and the main Carols concert starting at 8.15pm, all culminating in a spectacular fireworks show.
