The Rural City of Murray Bridge has decided to not proceed with the proposed Eastside Community Wastewater Management System.
A comprehensive report was presented to Council on Monday following a community consultation and detailed investigation into the management of wastewater for private properties in Murray Bridge East.
Alongside the overwhelming lack of support for the project, it may have been too cost prohibitive with estimated construction costs around $12 -$13M, equating to a subsidiary of about $23,500 per connection.
Instead Councillors voted for the alternative option for wastewater management, specifically education and compliance in the region.
