Chatty Bench

Murray Bridge is set to introduce a significant new wellbeing initiative aimed at fostering
social connections within the community.

The Rural City of Murray Bridge is supporting an initiative by ac.care’s Community Connections Program in collaboration with the Murray Bridge Wellbeing Hub, Murray Bridge Community Centre and Preventive Health SA, to launch the first-ever Chatty Bench in the region on RU OK Day, Thursday 12 September 2024 at 10am.
The event will be followed by a RU OK morning tea at the Community Connections Chatty
Café – located at The Square, 2 South Terrace, Murray Bridge.

The Chatty Bench, a brightly painted yellow seat crafted by the skilled hands at the
Murraylands Community Men’s Shed, will be located on the corner of Sixth Street and South
Terrace. Its vibrant colour and central location is designed to draw attention and serve as a
welcoming space where community members can sit and have a conversation.

Social isolation negatively impacts mental health and general well-being so any opportunity we can
provide to generate connection and conversation is a positive step for our community.
